Director, Honors Online and Experiential Learning

Lysette Davi is the Director, Honors Online and Experiential Learning, primarily developing Honors Online curriculum through instructional design and partnerships on main-campus and through Arizona Online. Lysette is a service-learning expert and is responsible for fostering a partnership between the Honors College, the Tucson community and the University of Arizona through hands-on learning experiences for students. She aims to be a resource to students and create a inclusive environment to learn through hands-on experiences. Lysette connects with the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation and works across campus to build relationships to further develop bi-national collaborations across the U.S. Mexico-Border in order for students to learn and consider social issues in the borderlands.

Lysette teaches HNRS 314: Ideas Into Action and HNRS 295, both experiential learning courses where students partner with community organizations to challenge ideas of community, identity and citizenship. She also directs the Honors Alternative Spring Break trips which focus on student development through gaining a deeper sense of understanding, empathy and compassion of community by serving on week long service trips during Spring Break. She also teaches cultural humility through the Honors Study Abroad Credit Reduction program.

Lysette is originally from Sacramento, California. She earned her BA in Political Science from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Higher Education from The University of Arizona. She served in the U.S. Peace Corps as a teacher of English. Her research focuses on internationalization, online learning, cultural humility and transnational education models. Lysette is currently an HSI Fellow (2020-2021). Lysette has previously been awarded Tucson’s 40 Under 40, The College of Education Outstanding Graduate Student, University of Arizona's Centennial Achievement Award, The Lexie Kamerman Dedication to Social Justice Award, and is an Erasmus Circle Scholar.
