The W.A. Franke Honors College is offering a non-credit Student Development Project for undergraduate students to participate in integrating culture, community and ephemeral art based on ancestral Mexican technique and expression. Franke Honors students are eligible to apply for positions working on guided design and production of a thematic installation to be displayed during the "Day of the Dead 2024" event on campus. Students will have the opportunity to participate in instructional sessions, meet local artists and University of Arizona faculty members, and conduct specific tasks.

This year, students participating in this experience will have the opportunity to collaborate with a group of students from Tec of Cananea in Sonora, Mexico. Both groups will partner to contribute to this art expression and its installation. The institution in Mexico will run a similar student development program, and students from Cananea will join the Honors student group before and during the Day of the Dead event.

The date for the event is October 25th from 5:30 - 8:30pm at the University of Campus Store - Level 1 in the Student Union. The main organizers of this event are Franke Honors, The College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture, HSI Initiatives, and Campus Store. Additional sponsors include ADELANTE and Student Engagement and Career Development.

Working sessions will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at Honors Village, Room 2109 & 2111 on Oct 08, Oct 10, Oct, 15, and Oct 17. Final sessions on Oct 22 and Oct 24 will be at the Campus Store - Level 1. Additionally, participants will spend 20 hours installing and cleaning up the main area. Further details regarding this schedule will be provided with anticipation.

Participants that complete all required activities will obtain a total of $450.00 award.
