Every students' journey toward graduation with honors at the University of Arizona is unique, but all Franke Honors students have the opportunity to seek, connect, create, evolve and celebrate along the way!
Requirements to Graduate with Honors
- Honors Units: Depending on your major and other factors, you will need to take a required number of Honors units. Those can be earned in multiple ways, including through courses taught by our award-winning in-house interdisciplinary faculty.
- Franke Honors Seminar: These 1-unit courses range in topic and are a great way to expand your horizons and meet other Franke students.
- Honors Thesis: This culminating project allows you to dive deep into an area of interest and create a final product that showcases the skills, knowledge, and passions you have developed throughout your undergraduate career.

Not Required, but Highly Recommended
Jump into early-career research and creative inquiry with a Quest Project. Apply for an Exploratory Mini-Grant. Take an innovative and interdisciplinary HNRS Gen Ed Course (or two. or three.) Join a club, check out internal scholarships, apply for a Fulbright with help from the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships, study abroad, prepare for your Honors Thesis by taking Ignite, and enroll in a signature academic program. You definitely don't have to do all of these things, but isn't it nice to know that you could?
HONORS THESIS
Your final project brings together the experiences, knowledge, and investigative techniques you gained during your undergraduate career, taking that learning and development in exciting new directions.

Enrich your education by incorporating honors courses into your schedule and learning from our talented faculty.
Honors Contracts
Honors contracts allow students to make individualized arrangements with instructors in order to earn honors credit in non-honors courses.
Individual Study
Franke Honors directed individual studies include research, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities while working with a faculty mentor.
Research
Students have unique opportunities throughout their undergraduate career to engage in faculty-mentored research and creative projects. From your very first year, you can conduct a self-directed research experience.
Study Abroad
Participate in one of the Franke Honors programs to earn credit during the summer, or join any of the University's study abroad experiences.
