Spring Course = HNRS 295: The Legacy of Enslavement in America (Tues/Thurs 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM)
+ Study Away March 10-13, 2026 (There is no additional cost for travel associated with this course.)

This 3-unit course, offered Spring 2026, includes a trip to Montgomery, Alabama, where you will will have an opportunity to visit historic sites and speak with leaders and activists who are dedicated to understanding the impact of enslavement on the civil rights movement now and in the past.

The sights, the sounds, the culture – absorb it all during this life-changing experience. Any Franke Honors student can apply! In addition to creating lifelong memories, you'll earn 7 Honors units—1 during the spring and 6 while studying abroad during the summer. 

Concerned about cost? Applicants to the Franke Honors Summer Abroad are automatically considered for up to $1500 in scholarship funds!

Discover how myth and place shape who we are. On this Honors study abroad in Greece, you’ll explore contemporary reimaginings of ancient myths through the landscapes that inspired them—from bustling Athens to the islands. Through writing, reflection, conversations with locals, and immersive site visits, you’ll engage personally, creatively, and critically with themes of identity, belonging, migration, transformation, and resilience—deepening your understanding of how story, self, and environment shape one another.

Participate in a 10-day trip with CIELO as your internship requirement for the Honors Civic Leadership Certificate

Join Cielo this winter break for an unforgettable journey that takes you beyond the traditional classroom into the heart of Costa Rica. Through hands-on service learning projects, you’ll work alongside local communities, learn from Indigenous leaders, and explore the country’s rich biodiversity and conservation efforts.

FRANKE HONORS STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS

Want to study abroad but worried about cost? Great news! We have multiple scholarships to help support your goals. Applicants who are accepted to the summer Greece trip or winter Costa Rica trip will automatically receive a $1,500 scholarship to help cover the cost of the trip.
