Travel can be an essential part of your Honors experience, whether it is a study abroad program with the W.A. Franke Honors College, with UArizona, or another accredited institution - or travel to a national or international conference to present your research. Whatever the case, we want to help, and the scholarships and awards below are a great way to get you where you are going. 

General Study Abroad Scholarships

Award: up to $1,500 (Award amounts are dependent upon availability of funds.)
Number of Awards: multiple
Eligibility:

  • Current W.A. Franke Honors Student
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA
  • Accepted into an accredited Summer Study Abroad program  

Fall 2026 

  • Open Date: July 15, 2026
  • Close Date: August 15, 2026

Spring 2027

  • Open Date: November 15, 2026
  • Close Date: December 15, 2026

Summer 2027

  • Open Date: February 15, 2027
  • Close Date: March 15, 2027

Additional Requirement: proof of acceptance to a program for award to disburse. 

Time commitment: up to an hour

This application is not for the Franke Honors Summer Abroad Greece and/or CIELO Costa Rica trips.

W.A. Franke Global Fellowship

Award: up to $3,000
Number of Awards: up to 6
Eligibility:

  • Current W.A. Franke Honors Student
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA
  • Accepted into an accredited Study Abroad Summer 2026 program (four or more weeks)  

Summer 2027

  • Open Date: February 15, 2027
  • Close Date: March 15, 2027

Additional Requirement: proof of acceptance to a program for award to disburse. 

Time commitment: up to an hour 

Franke Honors Summer Abroad - Greece

Award: up to $1,500
Number of Awards: multiple
Eligibility:

Scholarship Consideration:
The first 20 students accepted into the Franke Honors Summer Abroad – Greece program will automatically be considered for scholarships of up to $1,500. No separate scholarship application is required.

Franke Honors Summer Abroad - Portugal

Award: up to $1,500
Number of Awards: multiple
Eligibility:

The first 20 students accepted into the Franke Honors Summer Abroad – Portugal program will automatically be considered for scholarships of up to $1,500. No separate scholarship application is required.

Honors Conference/Travel Awards

Award: up to $1,000 
Number of Awards: multiple
Eligibility:

  • Current W.A. Franke Honors Student accepted to present at conference
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA   

Additional Requirement: letter of recommendation from current research mentor.

Fall 2026 

  • Open Date: July 15, 2026
  • Close Date: August 15, 2026

Spring 2027

  • Open Date: November 15, 2026
  • Close Date: December 15, 2026

Summer 2027

  • Open Date: February 15, 2027
  • Close Date: March 15, 2027

Time commitment: up to an hour

This award is solely for those who are presenting their research/findings at a professional conference.
