What We Do

Our job is to protect and promote the University of Arizona brand and, at the same time, develop and promote a unique identity for Franke Honors within it. We collaborate with our colleagues, who are subject-matter experts in their respective areas, to produce everything from one-off emails and promotional materials to video campaigns, events, podcasts, and more. We are here to help promote official college programs in ways that align with university and college strategic priorities and brand standards.

We work with teams across the college and university to promote programs, tell stories, and evolve our college identity in ways that accurately reflect our college's strengths and guide our audiences toward a desired action.

Each year, our team initiates projects based on college and university strategic priorities. In addition to these broader projects, the majority of our workload during the academic year comes through project requests and project reviews. We're always happy to work with you and find a solution.

Work With Us

Our team utilizes an agile methodology to ensure we can balance and prioritize one-off requests with longer term strategic initiatives. We work in two week sprints, and meet between sprints to review projects that have come in, assess progress on current projects, and reprioritize work as-needed. Even though we only sprint plan every two weeks, we check project requests every business day to ensure that nothing gets missed.

We ask that projects be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to their requested delivery date. Complex projects requiring multiple rounds of feedback should be submitted as much in advance as possible to ensure adequate time for review prior to delivery.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Submit your project. We will assess urgency and priority, and your project will be moved to a team member's board accordingly
  • That team member will reach out to you to confirm they are working on your project, and will ask for additional info or schedule a meeting as-needed
  • You will receive a draft of your project to review a minimum of three business days prior to your requested deadline
  • We will incorporate feedback and deliver the final product or submit for an additional round of feedback, as appropriate
  • If you are ordering physical materials, we will place the order for you through an approved vendor. Please keep in mind vendor timelines vary and submit your request as far in advance as possible.

FAQ

Nope! We're here to help and always happy to work with you on projects, but you aren't required to work through our team for most internal-facing materials, like info session presentations, informational materials for current students, or signage that doesn't include the college's official logo.

If you plan to use the Block A logo, or if the intended audience for your project or event is external (not current students, faculty or staff), you should plan to work with MarCom either via project request or project review.

This is a tricky one! If the program in question is an official program of the college (i.e. it has a paid staff position and/or college budget), all communications related to it should run through official college channels, including across social media. Student organizations that may have faculty or staff mentors but are not official programs of the college may have their own accounts but may not use the Block A logo or make claims that indicate they represent the college as a whole.

Questions? We're happy to help! Reach out to Laura Horley, lhorley@arizona.edu

If you need something in less than two weeks, please submit your project request and follow it up with an urgent email to Laura Horley, lhorley@arizona.edu, and/or Joel Harris, joelharris@arizona.edu. We will work with you to complete things on the necessary timeline to the best of our abilities.

To make sure your event/club meeting/info session is on the website calendar and promoted in the Your Week Ahead newsletter, please add it to the HNRS Honors Events shared Outlook calendar and be sure to include relevant details that will help us promote your event. No. If your program is an official program of the W.A. Franke Honors College, it is usually best to have program info live on frankehonors.arizona.edu. Please submit a project request if you would like more/different web presence for your program, and we will be happy to work with you on a solution that meets you needs, aligns with University policy, and adheres to AI-search best practices.
