In addition to substantive focus on the nuclear politics of the Cold War era and how secret intelligence influenced said politics, the proposed course will take an innovative approach to teaching. Beyond traditional lectures and readings, students will engage in a dynamic and immersive learning experience. Through a real-life simulation, students will delve into the complexities of nuclear posturing and maneuvering between the United States and the Soviet Union during critical moments of the Cold War. Students will hear from experts such as former CIA officers, diplomats, and politicians. This experience will allow the students to make theoretical connections between the events of the Cold War and the nuclear politics of the present day.
