The course will challenge students to understand gender parity and issues of equity in various industries and how these issues impact women as leaders. Examining leadership models, organizational strategies, communications, and decision-making processes through an equity-minded lens will allow students to understand challenges in the workplace and to develop problem-solving skills. Students will analyze profiles of women in leadership positions and discuss how issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion shape organizations. Students will also engage in self-reflection of core values, strengths, and professional preferences to cultivate their own leadership approaches and professional brand. By engaging in collaborative and individual self-assessments as well as research on women in leadership positions, students will develop a personalized professional persona summary and leadership development plan that highlights their vision, philosophy, goals, and practices for continue professional growth with an emphasis on equity and inclusion.
