This course examines the intrinsic and external forces that shape who we are, with a particular emphasis on thinking about how your self perception and values may have come into a new focus now that you are an adult in college. Students will be able to identify the meaning of self and social identity, identity development theory, and how identity impacts our own lives and the lives of those around us. Students will understand and themselves better in the context of their personal strengths, values, personality type and social factors that affect their life journey, and see how the relevance of these factors relate to their own educational goals. Students will learn to develop a musical, audio and visual soundtrack of their lives as it relates to their personal identity.
