In this introductory course, students will learn about the role of theater and performance in the resistance and struggle against apartheid-a policy or system of segregation or discrimination based on race in South Africa. Throughout the semester, students will examine intersections between, theater and history, politics and identity as it pertains to race, gender, citizenship, nationality, and culture. Thorough its innovative and interactive learning technologies, the course seeks to develop a new generation of ethical, compassionate, future leaders who respect and value difference and can come up with creative solutions to problems affecting humanity in the 21st century.
