Donald Powell

Donald W. Powell is a partner at Carmichael & Powell, P.C. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor of science degree in 1969 and a law degree in 1972. Mr. Powell is the past President of the University of Arizona Alumni Association, Phoenix Chapter, and a recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Service Award of the University of Arizona. He has served as President of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Arizona and President of the Bankruptcy Section of the Maricopa County Bar Association. He was Chairman of the Maricopa County Bar Foundation. Mr. Powell was certified as a specialist in bankruptcy law by the State Bar of Arizona. He served as a member and examination reviewer of the Bankruptcy Accreditation Review Panel, Standing Committee on Specialization, American Bar Association. His practice area is bankruptcy law; Mr. Powell represents businesses and consumers in bankruptcy matters. 

He is presently a member of the University of Arizona Foundation Board of Trustees, the University of Arizona Alumni Association Governing Board and the University of Arizona National Leadership Council. Mr. Powell serves on the Advisory Committee to the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Community Legal Services, was twice named as a Top 50 Pro Bono Attorney by the Arizona Bar Foundation and was selected as the 2021 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Arizona Supreme Court. He is a Mentor for the University of Arizona Wildcat Mentor Society and has been twice selected as the Co-Mentor of the year. Mr. Powell was the Co-Chair of the University of Arizona 50th Reunion for the Class of 1969. He is a member of the Senior Lawyers Executive Council of the State Bar of Arizona. Mr. Powell is presently serving as President of the University of Arizona Law College Association.
