University of Arizona -- BBCS Student Research Assistants (2 positions)

Dr. Robbie Burger, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Bridging Biodiversity and Conservation Science program is seeking two undergraduate research assistants for projects related to heat waves, lethal temperatures, and climate adaptations in animals including humans. Students will assist in synthesizing the literature on temperature adaptations, compiling and analyzing large scale datasets, and developing predictive models to inform global and regional climate adaptation policies.

The ideal candidate will work well in teams and independently for 5-10 hours per week ($12/hour) including a 1 hr/week group Zoom meeting. Undergraduate students must be currently (Spring 2020) registered for at least 6 credit hours and be registered for at least 6 credits in the Fall 2020. Experience with or desire to learn data management and programing skills in excel, R, and GIS a must. Multilingual, especially Spanish and Native language skills, a plus.

Disciplines of interest span the quantitative physical, biological, and social sciences as well as medicine, public health, engineering, and public policy with an interest in biodiversity, human ecology, and/or climate adaptation. Robbie's research studies macroecological applications to global change problems including biodiversity conservation, climate change, and human sustainability.
