Grounded in a model of student-driven inquiry, this seminar challenges students to critically examine homelessness through direct engagement, guided discussion, and sustained reflection. Students will meet and converse with individuals experiencing homelessness, community advocates, faculty experts, and service providers. Site visits to shelters, soup kitchens, and service organizations, along with critical engagement with films and readings, will deepen students’ understanding of the ethical, social, and public health dimensions of homelessness. Faculty will facilitate student-led discussions aimed at questioning assumptions, making meaningful connections, and developing ethical responses to homelessness.
