This workshop will provide space and resources for reflecting and choosing your topic as well as sharing how to use some of our online databases to find a fitting faculty mentor to oversee your project. We’ll review basics, like formatting and structure, talk about tailoring your resume to specific industries/positions that interest you, and explore further resources for your job seeking. Jan 29 Image Exploratory Mini Grant Application Workshop 4 – 5 p.m., Jan. 29, 2025 This workshop is designed to prepare students to submit the Exploratory Mini Grant (EMG) application (due 4/4). Jan 30 Image Research Prep Workshop #2 4 – 5 p.m., Jan. 30, 2025 If you want to start a Quest Project or your Honors Thesis soon, you’ll need a faculty mentor to oversee your project. You want someone with expertise in your area but also someone you feel comfortable working with and collaborating with. How the heck do you find that though?? This workshop is designed to share ideas for how to find a potential faculty mentor for your project and covers the dos and don’ts of communicating with them. We’ll provide you with ideas for what to include in your emails to them, how to request a meeting with them, and how to actually ask them to be your mentor. We will discuss where to begin writing, proper formatting, what to include and what to leave out, and further resources that will help you polish your new cover letter.
