How do Black writers revisit U.S. history and prefigure the future? How do they envision social justice? How can we understand ourselves better as a result? This course explores “Afro-Futurist” short stories and poetry by Octavia Butler, Autumn Brown, Waldilah Imarisha, Tara Betts, David Walker, Terry Bison, and Sheree Renee` Thomas.
