Thomas Sullivan
As the Assistant Director - Mentorship, Leadership, & Belonging Initiatives, Thomas oversees multiple initiatives at the W.A. Franke Honors College, including the Partnerships Through Honors (PATH) Peer Mentorship/Leadership Program, the PATH-Health and Human Values Minor Mentorship Initiative, and the development of a Franke Honors Preceptorship Program. He also works on initiatives that focus on continually building a stronger sense of belonging across the Franke Honors College. In the past, Thomas has also taught honors courses including the Catalyst Seminar and the Ignite Seminar.
Thomas in an alumnus of the Honors College and a second generation Wildcat. Thomas earned his Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Political Science in 2012. During his undergraduate studies, Thomas studied abroad in Scotland, where he studied politics and completed an internship in the Scottish Parliament. Thomas returned to Scotland to continue his education, earning a Master’s Degree in Nationalism Studies from the University of Edinburgh in 2013 while again working in the Scottish Parliament. After completing his Master’s Degree, Thomas returned to Tucson and began working as an Honors Student Success Counselor. Thomas is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geography part-time at the University of Arizona. His doctoral work focuses on neglected and abandoned urban spaces, with a particular focus on transgression, interim use, and the role of plants in these spaces.
Thomas is passionate about sharing the unique opportunities that the Franke Honors College, the University of Arizona and Tucson can provide. Outside of work, you might see Thomas bird-watching, traveling, rooting on the Wildcats, and playing with his dogs, Poppy and Wallace.
