Nearly every success story includes a “someone who believed in me” chapter. As Assistant Dean for Student Engagement, Dr. Karna Walter wants each student to find that inspiration more than once in their four-year journey. And then become the same light to others, even prior to graduation from the University of Arizona Honors College.

Academic credentials and student life acumen are only part of her story. Dr. Walter’s experience in student admissions has informed her desire to “connect the parts together.” Undergrads looking to grow, serve and lead find a kindred spirit in the Iowa native. The same applies to students seeking awards through the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships. Under her leadership, a wide-ranging set of experiences are on the Honors menu, with no plan in sight to stop growing on-campus, urban and international program options. Students looking to limit their College life are, as the past decade has demonstrated, simply the students who haven’t met her yet.
