“Return of Rothko” a reading of the play, Red, by John Logan, about the life and work of Mark Rothko (1903-1970), American abstract expressionist painter will take place at the Honors Village Amphitheater, Tues. Apr. 23, 2:00 - 3:15 pm. Presented by Franke Honors students Nic Owen and Mireya Borgen and Professor Patrick Baliani. The play will also to be presented at UA Museum of Art, Thur. Apr. 25, 11:00 – 12:15.
 
The play, Red, is course material in two Franke Honors classes this term: "Modern Art and Mental Illness" and “Visual Art and Brain Studies.”
 
“Return of Rothko” celebrates of the return to the UAMA of its prized possession, Rothko's Green on Blue (1956), currently on loan in Paris in what is the largest ever assembled exhibition of Rothko’s internationally renowned body of work. Both readings are open to the public.
