This course will look at the rich history and context of collage as an expressive art form - from personal examinations of identity to political activism, to the down-right absurd. We will use historical and contemporary examples of collage as starting points for students to develop their own art works. Through cutting, pasting, appropriating, and rearranging visual information, students will use various collage techniques to explore and construct facets of identity and place. Absolutely no art experience needed!
