Amanda Adams and Ojas Sanghi, both W.A. Franke Honors students, are recipients of this years' highly competitive Udall Scholarship. Udall Scholars demonstrate outstanding potential, and maintain academic commitments related to Tribal Policy, Native Health Care, and the Environment.

Today, on a special panel episode of our podcast, It's an Honor, Franke Honors Assistant Dean Dr. Cheree Meeks is joined by Dr. Jamaica DelMar, Ms. Barbea Williams, and Ms. Lauryn Jones. All four of our guests give their insight on what it means to be a black woman in leadership positions, and what has inspired them to continue leading with authenticity.

This past semester, Franke Honors Professor Dr. Nadia Alvarez Mexia, co-taught her course HNRS 335: Leadership: Building and Nourishing a Community with Adrienne Brown, a postdoc at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy.

Portia Cooper and Bryce Wilson, both W.A. Franke Honors students, are recipients of this years' Goldwater Scholarship. Goldwater Scholars demonstrate outstanding potential, and they intend to pursue research-oriented careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering.

On May 9 at McKale Memorial Center, the W.A. Franke Honors College will be celebrating the spring graduating class of 2024. Every semester, we acknowledge select students that have exemplified the values of the college; what it means to seek, connect, create, evolve and celebrate, both personally and academically.

Sherri Silverberg, lecturer in accounting in the Eller College of Management, has been selected as the 2024 recipient of The Margaret M. Briehl and Dennis T. Ray Five Star Faculty Award. The Margaret M. Briehl and Dennis T. Ray Five Star Faculty Award is the only student-selected teaching award at the University of Arizona, comprised of all W.A. Franke Honors students.

W.A. Franke Honors graduating seniors Tintin Nguyen, Andrew Prouty, and Noah Weaver will receive prestigious awards during the University of Arizona's 160th commencement ceremony on May 10 in Arizona Stadium. Tintin, Andrew, and Noah were nominated by their professors and peers, and will be recognized with awards for their impressive contributions within their classrooms and communities.

Last week, the W.A. Franke Honors College hosted its annual research presentation symposium, Franke Honors Pinnacle. Nearly 100 Franke Honors students presented their work at Pinnacle, showcasing diverse research projects that they have been working on throughout the year. Outstanding research is acknowledged with financial awards for Quest projects, senior thesis work, exploratory mini grants, and other special projects.

Franke Honors students Nic Owen and Mireya Borgen, along with professor Patrick Baliani will be performing a reading of the play Red, which details a dramatic account of the life and work of American abstract painter, Mark Rothko. The reading will commemorate the return of Rothko's painting, titled "Green on Blue," to the University of Arizona Museum of Art's permanent collection.
