APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2022-2023 LIVERMAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Applications are now open for the 2022-2023 Liverman Scholars Program! Highlights of the program include:
- Field expeditions with community partners
- Investigations into environment and resilience challenges facing southern Arizona
- Workshops targeting environmental storytelling and communication skill development
- Interdisciplinary student cohort and faculty and graduate student mentorship
- Receive $1000 scholarship award and 4 course credits for full academic year
Undergraduate students from all majors are welcome to apply, with a preference given to sophomores and juniors. Liverman Scholars is an experiential, place-based program in which students strengthen their environmental storytelling and communication skills. As part of a small, cross-disciplinary cohort, students will work on these skills in relationship with one another and community partners, all the while connecting to the extraordinary living world of southern Arizona.
The Liverman Scholars program spans the academic year, from August 2022-May 2023. It consists of 4 overnight field expeditions, 1 hour/week structured class meeting time, and ~1 hour/week of independent work. In between meetings, students will be expected to work collaboratively on their communication pieces with the support of their mentors. Students will receive $1000 stipend and 4 course credits for completion of the two-semester program.
Applicants need not have an environmental science background but should be interested in environment and resilience.
Please visit the Liverman Scholars website to apply. Applications will be open until April 6th. We aim to notify applicants of their status by mid-April.
